Evening classes begin 13th Oct 2005

Annular Solar Eclipse 3rd Oct 2005

On the morning of Monday 3rd October, there will be an annular solar eclipse. The full annularity will be visible from Spain, Portugal and northern Africa.

From Scotland the Sun will appear only 50% covered - a partial eclipse - with maximum coverage taking place just before 10:00am (summer time).

Safety information

If you are planning to observe the eclipse, you should exercise extreme caution.

NEVER look directly at the Sun, either with the naked eye or through telescope or binoculars. Permanent eye damage or blindness could result. The only totally safe method to view the sun is by projection, as described on the following sites:
