December 2005
Christmas sunset

Very clear weather over the festive season is making for good observing skies. Look out for a bright crescent Venus shortly after sunset.

Geminid Meteor Shower

The reliable Geminid meteor shower will peak between the 12th and 14th of December. A full Moon will interfere with observing this year, but still worth a lookout.

Geminid History

Don't forget also to keep an eye out for Saturn, East of Gemini and close to the Beehive Cluster (Praesepe).
Mars Close Approach

There is still time to catch Mars. Look due South in the early to late evening, but don't wait too long ! Mars will start to fade rapidly by the end of the month.
