Lunar Eclipse March 3rd

The clouds cleared just in time on the evening of Saturday, March 3rd.

One of the best eclipses for many years began at approximately 21:30 and continued until well after midnight, with the Moon turning a deep coppery colour.

This was the scene just before 02:30 in the small hours of Friday morning, 2nd March 2007:

Saturn occultation

Over the next few minutes, Saturn gradually disappeared behind the southern limb of the Moon, to reappear between 02:44 and 02:47.
