Corona Borealis prior to the eruption of T Coronae Borealis. Having last erupted in 1946, T Coronae Borealis (T CrB) is a recurrent nova, brightening sharply from Magnitude +10 to Magnitude +2 approximately every 80 years.
Based on the orbital period of this binary system, Jean Schneider of the Paris Observatory has predicted a possible date of 10 November 2025 for the next outburst. In this image, taken the night before the prediction, T CrB (marked with two red lines) has not yet erupted.
