Stirling Astronomical Society Gallery

This ghostly shape in Cassiopeia is in fact an emission nebula. This cloud of hydrogen gas is shaped and energised by radiation from nearby star Gamma Cassiopeiae (upper left). Imaged in colour and monochrome (H-α) using narrowband filters.
